WE TRAVEL THE WORLD OF GERMAN AMATEUR SOCCER

What does it help to develop a training app, commit yourself to certain social values and not deal with the basis of real amateur clubs at all? Right... nothing!

“FOOTBALL IS ACTUALLY VERY SIMPLE. YOU JUST HAVE TO UNDERSTAND YOUR COLLEAGUES. ”

Politicians and soccer associations are increasingly confronted with the same recurring reproach: “You are moving away from the grassroots! You don't even understand the normal ordinary people from next door and their needs anymore! ”
In soccer, world championship awards, Champions League reforms, dismemberment of game plans and much more are then always given as examples.

It is not our task to assess whether this allegation is justified. And we're not even entitled to that. The fact is, however, that the majority of our amateur soccer players and fans completely disagree with some groundbreaking decisions in soccer in recent years. And have felt neglected in the last two pandemic-related years.

Now we are not a central decision maker. But at least it's the biggest soccer training app in the country. That is why we want to exchange ideas with this so-called basis. Your feedback has always been a central part of the development of our app. The feedback from our players. Apart from sports science know-how, we also want to know and understand what makes German amateur soccer work. What problems he has and what stories he can tell.

OUR TRIP THROUGH THE WHOLE REPUBLIC

That's why we're going on a trip. Once through the whole of soccer Germany. From Bavaria to Berlin and from Thuringia to NRW. Across the whole country. Our columnist Tim Frohwein came up with this great idea. He is writing a book about German amateur soccer for the Bavarian State Center for Political Education, in which he will record his experiences and experiences. And we can go with him. As a photographer, interlocutor and of course B42. The biggest soccer team in the world. Your team.

Our goal: we want to rediscover you. Many of our team have already given up their soccer shoes and even Corona hasn't really brought us any closer to “real” amateur soccer. Of course, we also have numerous active people. As a playerinside, trainerinside and in other functions. But even the active among us can usually only report on their own associations. Your very own soccer bubble.

That is why we want to expand our subjective horizons of experience. Geographically and thematically. We talk to you about racism, equality, esports, sustainability, membership loss and all the other big and small stories from the everyday life of amateur soccer.

Tim carefully designed this trip. When choosing his travel stations, he tried to cover the whole of Germany and, on the other hand, made sure that every club he visited had a different topic. Sustainability in Berlin, anti-racism in Bonn and sexual diversity in Munich.

FOR AMATEUR SOCCER!

Our soccer universe has a lot to offer. And a lot is worth seeing. A lot of things that are important to talk about. We will be taking a close look at the situation in Germany's places. Talk to you about wonderful moments and experiences, but also the problems and difficulties in amateur soccer. Identify, analyze and design solutions for these problems.

That is our task. A task that starts with you on the pitch and in the club house. The goal? Respect, Fairness, Mutual Understanding, and Community That's our soccer ball!
