Knee pain during soccer is not uncommon.
Many changes of direction, contact with opponents and uneven turf (the lower the league, the deeper the potholes) demand a lot from our knees.
If knee pain occurs, the logical idea is:
“It will probably simply be overloaded. ”
If I want to solve the problem now, the cause is usually sought directly at the knee. At first glance, this seems to be the reasonable solution.
This makes sense for bruises, collisions and “fresh” or acute pain. Among other things, short-term cooling and then repeated cooling of the structure at intervals can help here.
But how can you help yourself with chronic complaints?
What if knee pain does not occur suddenly but is announced over a longer period of time?
Then you should consider “the law of regional dependence.” It describes “the connections between limitations of a non-painful joint in one region and resulting pain in another region” (quote from Dr. med. Markus Klingenberg).
Put more simply:
If your knee hurts, this may be due to limited ankle mobility, hamstrings, hips or spine.
When faced with chronic problems, we must therefore ask ourselves the question: What restrictions does my body have that could possibly lead to this problem?
