Football is unpredictable: Whether it was a cup that has its own laws, or teams that were hopeless 0-4 behind at halftime and were still able to turn the game around. Spectacular catch-up hunts are fortunately not uncommon in soccer.
VfL Wolfsburg achieved probably the most spectacular of all catch-ups in the 2008/09 Bundesliga season under coach Felix Magath. Back then, Lower Saxony entered the winter break with an eleven-point mortgage and ninth place. With raid soccer, a central Barzagli-Josué-Misimovic-Grafite-Dzeko axis and a quaelix on the sidelines, the wolves ended up lifting themselves to the very top. No team with such a backlog has ever won the championship title.
The lessons learned from this:
Take a solid squad structure, mix it with outstanding athleticism and garnish the whole thing with a dose of team spirit. Et voila, a second round for the history books is done.
Of course, we know that's easier said than done. That's exactly why we want you with a free seminar Give yourself a hand and show yourself with examples of best practice how you can start the spring round with a good tailwind.
Preparing for winter in particular is a feat of strength. Poor space conditions, countless running sessions on the road, arctic temperatures and participation in training that tends towards Kleinfeld — both motivation and performance levels often go down the drain on a weekly basis. Since the options offered by training camps are also not feasible for all teams, you usually struggle with the preparation.
In the webinar, we also want to offer solutions here. We'll show you how to organize break days sensibly, diversify fitness sessions and yet keep ball times high.
In addition to finding solutions to acute problems during the preparation period, we also want to share with you our general success drivers for the second half.
We will address the topic of tactics in detail. You will learn how the tactical focus should ideally be followed, how it can be evaluated with a view to the season so far and how to get the whole team behind it.
Of course, our hobby horse won't be neglected either:
The fitness.
Through soccer-specific athletic units and the optimal increase in stress stimuli, we will also show you how you can discover and promote development potential.
In this webinar, we also focus on injury prevention. We will inform you why it is worthwhile to keep speeches as short as possible, how to deal responsibly with waves of illness in preparation and how you can assess the risks of injury in poor space conditions.
Wolfsburg sensational title in 2009 impressively shows that soccer miracles and success stories can still be written even in the second half. But history also teaches us that you should never feel safe after a successful first series. Frankfurter Eintracht in particular can sing a unique song about this. The Hessians lost a whopping 14 points advantage over the non-relegation positions. The end of the song: Eintracht was relegated — even though they were still in seventh place in winter and dreamt of Europe.
