If, like many other players, including Danny da Costa, you have to deal with hay fever, watery eyes and runny nose every spring, then you know exactly what we're talking about. And in fact, it can affect anyone — allergic reactions can occur suddenly, last a longer period of time but also disappear just as unexpectedly.
It usually starts with a slight scratch in your throat, but at the latest when your nose runs more than you do in 90 minutes on the weekend, then you can be sure that the pollen is there. In fact, around 15 percent of all Germans are diagnosed at least once in their lifetime: hay fever.
Since our soccer training takes place outdoors, we are in direct contact with everything that is just beginning to blossom three times a week. Various anti-inflammatory drugs are often used to alleviate the symptoms of hay fever.
These are usually the typical “weapons” such as cortisone spray or various antihistamines.
We would like to present you with an alternative today:
The blue-green algae spirulina is not only a protein source for vegan. Spirulina is also used as a powerful anti-inflammatory supplement. In a first study A decrease in symptoms has already been observed. Unfortunately, spirulina powder is inedible, so many like to use so-called “pellets”.
An average price is between 20 and 30€ per kilogram — sufficient for a period of just under 200 days. It is recommended to consume just under 5 grams of spirulina per day.
We're not medical professionals and we can't guarantee that it will help you. In fact, a few athletes experienced side effects; please check this out yourself from a doctor. We hope this little “hack” helps you — we would be delighted to receive feedback (whether negative or positive).
We wish you a successful and injury-free week.
